Night Football Returns to Wauzeka

Nighttime football will return to Wauzeka this Thursday for the first time in 35 years. Wauzeka-Steuben will host Ithaca in a game beginning at 7pm. The end result is the culmination of over ten years of hard work by members of the Wauzeka and Steuben communities and nearly $143,000.

Playing football at the collegiate level is a noteworthy accomplishment for any young man, his community, and school. Prairie du Chien has four graduates currently playing college football for the same team: Tyler Keeney, Mike Lenzendorf, Michael Waller, and Tyler O’Kane.

The Gays Mills 51st Annual Apple Festival was held this past weekend. Some of the highlights included the flea market, carnival, and various food and merchandise for sale throughout the town both days. Area orchards also offered specials and events throughout the weekend.

The 2009 Family Expo showcased services and activities provided by thirty local agencies and organizations to nearly 100 adults and 160 children on Saturday. The event was held at the Prairie du Chien National Guard Armory.

The Friends of Wyalusing State Park held their “Spirits of Wyalusing Past” event Saturday evening. Among other things, participants walked about half a mile with a guide along a path lit by torches and hand-carved, lighted pumpkins.
