“Joe the Plumber” and Taxpayer Teaparty Draws Over Five Hundred People

More than five hundred taxpayers gathered to say “enough is enough” on out of control government spending and taxes Saturday at the Taxpayer Tea Party in Prairie du Chien.

The event featured “Joe the Plumber,” Americans for Prosperity Director Mark Block, Wisconsin Prosperity Network Director Linda Hansen, WIBA radio’s Vicki McKenna and Brian Schimming and American Idol contestant Chellanie Adams. The Wisconsin State Director of Americans for Prosperity, Mark Block says the ground swell of support for the Tea Parties proves that taxpayers are saying “enough is enough.”

Vicki McKenna in Prairie du Chien“Since the beginning of April we’ve been a part of 35 Tea Parties throughout Wisconsin that were attended by more than 30,000 taxpayers,” Block said, “There is a real movement going on in this state and the politicians had better take notice.”

Joe Wurzelbacher, who gained notoriety after questioning Barrack Obama’s plan to raise taxes and “spread the wealth around.” Wurzelbacher called the scheme “socialism” and quickly became a media celebrity known simply as “Joe the Plumber.” Wurzelbacher urged all taxpayers to get involved.

“If I make a mistake, people will call me over a $70 bill and they should,” Wurzelbacher said, “Your leaders in Washington are making trillion dollar mistakes and do you call them to complain? Get on the phone!”
