String of Burglaries in Elkader Wednesday and Thursday
By PdC Today • Aug 31st, 2009 • Category: NewsTwo young men from Elkader were arrested after a crime spree late Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Donald Maker, age 19, and Derek Leuchtenmacher, age 18, were arrested Thursday by Clayton County police.
The two men took $120 from an individual, stole items from the Dollar General store, stole a knife and cell phone from two unoccupied vehicles parked at Brown’s Sales & Leasing, and attempted to break into the Fast Trak gas station. All of the crimes occurred in Elkader.
After arrested, Maker and Leuchtenmacher were charged with two counts of 3rd degree burglary, two counts of 5th degree theft, and 3rd degree attempted burglary.
