23-year old Shawn Kraus was taken to a hospital early Saturday morning after falling approximately 30 feet from a cliff near Gays Mills.

Kraus was with Lee Lomas (age 21) and Nicholas Martin (age 22) on a rock outcropping on State Highway 171. Kraus was walking on a trail near the face of the rocks when he lost his footing and fell.

Lomas and Martin were able to get to where Kraus had landed and called 9-1-1. The Gays Mills Fire Department and Ocooch Mountain Rescue were able to bring Kraus to safety. He was taken to Vernon Memorial Hospital.
