Chicago Man Charged After Fleeing Motorcycle Accident Near Eastman
By PdC Today • Aug 24th, 2009 • Category: NewsA Chicago man was arrested by Crawford County Police Saturday morning after he fled the scene of his own motorcycle accident.
James Malacina, age 48, of Chicago was traveling east on Highway 179 on a 1986 Honda Goldwing motorcycle. While negotiating a curve, his motorcycle went onto the right shoulder of the roadway, traveled 122 feed, tipped on it’s left side, slid 18 feed and came to rest.
Despite the damage, the motorcycle was still drivable.
Eastman First Responders and the Prairie du Chiem EMS arrived at the scene. Malacina refused medical treatment. The medical units advised him not to leave the scene but he left before police arrived.
Malacina was stopped a short time later. He was arrested for operating under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to have control.
