Gallery: Hail Storms, Strong Winds Cause Damage

July Storm - Grant County

Severe storms battered the southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa Friday afternoon with hail, strong winds, and heavy downpours.

Hail was widespread with this system. Some reports claimed hail balls to be one inch in diameter. There have been many reports of hail damaged vehicles and other property.

Heavy winds scattered tree branches on the ground and damaged corn crops.

In Grant County, Highway 81 between Lancaster and Platteville was closed temporarily.

Heavy rains caused concern for flash flooding. There have also been reports of mudslides near Highway 35 by Ferryville in Crawford County.
