Crawford County Estimates Quarter Million Dollars in Damages
By PdC Today • Jul 28th, 2009 • Category: NewsDamages from Monday’s severe weather outbreak caused an estimated $250,000 of damage in Crawford County. Crawford County Emergency Management is still collecting damage reports.
At 5:12 pm, Crawford County Law Enforcement reported storm rotation near State Highway 27 and County C. Trained spotters reported a funnel cloud with an eventual touchdown and debris in the air. The tornado traveled along County C and lifted over the Gays Mills area. A number of area roads were closed due to trees and debris. Most area roads had been reopened by 10pm Monday. Two barns were destroyed along with minor damage to several homes. One home was evacuated due to a propane leak that could not be contained. As of Tuesday morning, that resident has been allowed to return.
No injuries have been reported due to the severe weather.
