No Pending Action to Close PdC DMV Site
By Dan Kapanke • Jun 19th, 2009 • Category: Dan Kapanke, PdCToday LifeAccording to a representative from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, there is at present, no pending action to close the Prairie du Chien Division of Motor Vehicles site. While the Governor’s budget bill included language that would have closed the office in Prairie du Chien, this proposal was not included in the Joint Finance Committee’s version of the budget or the Assembly version.
The State Senate will be deliberating on the Joint Finance Committee’s version of the budget which retains the statutory language that the DOT must have a presence in each county. In addition, the DOT administrator considers the Prairie du Chien DMV site to be a vital location in the fact that it is located on the edge of the state and a key point for interstate travel and tourism.
Dan Kapanke is the Wisconsin 32nd District Senator, elected in 2004. He lives in La Crosse and is the owner of the La Crosse Loggers baseball team.
