Prairie du Chien police officers issued nineteen citations Saturday evening for violations ranging from open intoxicants, underage drinking, criminal damage, and public urination.

Extra officers were deployed that evening with the intent to focus directed enforcement activities in Prairie du Chien’s downtown. “Funding for the officer’s overtime was provided by a Wisconsin Department of Transportation CARD grant,” says Chief of Police Mike King.  The grant runs through the fall of this year.

The planned enforcement came after PrairieFest, a non-drinking, family-friendly music and art street festival.
