McGuire K’s 15, Defeats Blackhawks
By Dan Moris • Apr 8th, 2009 • Category: SportsRiver Valley’s Shannon McGuire struck out 15 batters to help her team outlast Prairie du Chien 3-1 in eight innings.
Valley took an early 1-0 lead in the first when Nicole Ring doubled and knocked in Marina Faber.
Prairie du Chien tied it in the 4th when Janyl Kozelka homered.
The Hawks had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the seventh with a runner at 3rd and two outs, but Jamie Feye’s hard hit line drive was caught by Valley second baseman Sarah Crook.
River Valley took advantage of a couple Prairie errors in the 8th to get runners into scoring position. Rachel Van Woert then hit a two-run single to score the go ahead runs.
