New Media to Feature Life in PdC

Driftless, LLC is launching a new media website to serve the Prairie du Chien area with multimedia coverage of news, events, and opinions.

PdCToday.com features a new style of grass-roots reporting, empowered by the internet. “It’s really exciting times,” says Dan Moris, site co-founder, “The web is such a powerful communication tool allowing anyone to be a publisher.” Moris and his business partner Tino Kaltsas are not just anyone when it comes to communication technologies. Kaltsas has spent time working in the radio industry and newspaper industry, and now he works primarily for UW-Platteville’s video services department. Moris has worked in radio for the past ten years, including the last five at WQPC/WPRE in Prairie du Chien.

The new website is part of a larger trend shifting news content online that, on a national level, is causing some newspapers to halt or cut back their traditional print publication. “This is a big shakedown,” Moris says, “I don’t think most of the larger papers know how to react.  Well, perhaps they know how to react – but may not be ready to grab onto the reality of how drastically they’ll have to change their business model in order to stay relevent and profitable.”

PdCToday will feature more than area news.  “Our focus is really more on tapping into what makes the area unique – it’s people, geography, history – all of that,” says Moris, “We want this website to show the fun, enjoyable side of Prairie du Chien, too.” Moris and Kaltsas both say they have plans for expanded video coverage, including regular entertaining feature segments.

PdCToday will be active syndicating their content on social media sites.  You can already find them on Facebook and Twitter.
